Is deforestation making Burundian mountains ugly?

Deforestation is the process of cutting trees at large scale in a specific place. Consequences of deforestation are tremendous. It leads to degradation of soil, lost of habitats for animals as well as the destruction of the landscape beauty. With this elaborated description of deforestation, we can clearly see that deforestation activities are destroying the esthetic look of the Burundian mountains

Are Burundian mountains getting ugly? Yes the Burundian hills, mountains and plateau, are losing their eyes-opening marvelous scenery, they once were known for. Burundi is a hilly country like our neighborly country Rwanda and some part of Congo. DR. With such prevalent presence of elevations in the country, the lost of vegetation is  noticeable from afar.

It is devastating to witness the slow disappearance of trees from mountains, we once admired. Now the mountains are looking pale in sense where they are untractive to see. Growing up in Rutana, a region in the south east of Burundi, the mountains were still covered with trees in the early 2000s. These days, the contrast can be noticed as immense deforestation has destroyed the landscape.

Can we reverse such ongoing destruction of our beautiful mountains? Yes, it is possible. We don't have to look far to get a solution. Ethiopia has been implementing an ambitious program of planting more than a billion of trees. Having such vision and directing resources towards the program, makes it possible to dress up the mountains again.

Some key solutions include increasing and spreading out nursing of trees ( different varieties of trees). Promoting the importance of keeping the mountains forested. Again, designing and planting trees which are picturesque oriented toward tourism

In conclusion, it is time for Burundian to adopt once again the culture of planting trees so that we can keep our mountains decorated. These trees can contribute to economy in a sustainable way.
