Is our globe earth still a village or it is a myth of the past !!!!

The events in Kenya and South Africa challenge the regional integration processes and globalisation strategy

The globe earth has become a village since 1960s. Globalisation has been the way to prosperity for many countries especially countries in Asia. the reduction of globe earth to a village means removing all the barriers. The visualisation of the earth as village illustrate that information can be obtained at fingertips. it allows easiness of movement of people from different continents without any interruptions. the advantages are visible but the question is being raised in many countries, is globalisation becoming a burden?

Globalisation brings prosperity. countries across the globe especially in Asia, South America and Africa, have become richer over the years. China, South Korea, Singapore were poor countries in the early 1960s. with opened markets available across the world, the Asian population manufactured goods and sold them worldwide. The Asian population's standard of living is far better than most countries across the globe even those in Europe and North America. It is not just Asian countries, African countries have gain immensely. The people across the African continent have acquired education and knowledge from different education institutions across the globe. The acquired know-how is being implemented in assisting in the development of the country.

The globe as a village is becoming a burden to certain countries. countries like Kenya and South Africa are increasingly hostile to immigrants from other countries. The population in these African and European countries believe their opportunities is snatched away by the outsiders. It is true that uncontrolled migration can have negative impact on the locals as their have to bear the burden of hosting the foreigners. the local culture and customs become diluted and the resources get scarce for everyone. The anger of the locals is understood. Therefore the globalisation pauses a danger if it is not handled well.

As asked in the title, is the earth still a village or it is the myth of the past? the globe is still a village but a different type of village. It has many control now. countries are adopting something called nearshoring. This means that countries prefer depending on supply chains in the backyard than countries far away. for Example Rwanda prefer sourcing its manufacturing parts in the regional countries than far away countries like China and US. People prefer that the foreigners be documented as their fear those foreigners being used for committing crimes without ramification.

The globe as a village benefit everyone involved. it allows people to share knowledge and culture. in the past crises such as Ebola and Covid 19 pandemics, we overcame them due to the contribution of the world community as one. Therefore the unified globe earth is not a myth however it still functions but imperfectly.
